Algae & Floating Vegetation Removal
Mechanical collection and removal of accessible surface algae, algae mats, and floating vegetation from lakes and ponds in Central Florida.
Understanding the Problem
When Algae and Floating Weeds Take Over
Algae blooms and dense mats of floating vegetation are among the most visible and frustrating waterway problems. They can appear seemingly overnight, covering the water surface in thick green or blue-green mats — blocking sunlight, depleting oxygen, and creating unpleasant odors.
We mechanically collect and remove accessible surface algae and floating vegetation using our Mobitrac Aquatic Harvesters. Physical removal takes the organic material out of the water entirely, reducing the nutrient load that drives future blooms.
Note: While mechanical removal is highly effective for surface algae and floating mats, some algae types (particularly cyanobacteria / blue-green algae) may require additional treatment approaches. We'll assess your specific situation and recommend the right solution.

What We Remove
Algae & Floating Vegetation We Address
Filamentous Algae
Stringy, mat-forming algae that accumulates on the water surface and along shorelines — one of the most common complaints from pond owners.
Planktonic Algae Mats
Dense surface blooms that turn water green and create thick floating mats, especially in warm weather.
Water Hyacinth
Fast-spreading floating plants that form dense mats, blocking light and depleting oxygen for fish.
Water Lettuce
Free-floating rosettes that spread rapidly across the water surface, reducing water quality and access.
Duckweed & Watermeal
Tiny floating plants that can carpet an entire pond surface, creating a green film that looks like paint.
Spirogyra & Other Surface Algae
Various surface-forming algae species that accumulate in warm, nutrient-rich water.
Our Approach
Why Mechanical Removal Matters
Chemical algaecides can provide quick knockdown of algae, but they leave the dead organic material in the water — which decomposes, releases nutrients, and fuels the next bloom. It can become a cycle of repeated chemical treatments.
Mechanical removal physically takes the algae and vegetation out of the water, reducing the nutrient load that drives regrowth. Combined with a maintenance program, it's a more sustainable long-term approach to keeping your waterway clear.
